I just finished watching Jim Carrey's movie, "Yes Man" for the second time. Now I'd have to say that while this is not one of Jim's best films there are certainly some moments of brilliance and a particularly good supporting comedic role from New Zealand's Rhys Darby. But I'm not here to talk about the film so much as the concept behind it....saying "yes".
Saying yes to everything in a literal sense is obviously crazy and could potentially lead to more trouble than it's worth, (watch the movie and you'll see how). However, while the film is poking fun at the likes of motivational speakers such as Tony Robbins and various religious crusaders, the message of "yes" is not quite as silly as the writers may have you believe. We often overlook opportunities in our lives primarily as a result of fear. We tell ourselves that an opportunity is too good to be true or we don't believe in ourselves enough to even try. Sometimes these things manifest themselves later in our lives in the form of regret.
Life is what you make it. It can be dull and boring or it can be filled with adventure. Next time an opportunity presents itself think about "yes"!
